About the event
This school holidays we are running our Blake Haerenga program. This program is for those between the ages of 14-16 who are either looking to complete their Bronze DOE adventurous journey or anyone keen for an adventure.
This Haerenga is going to focus on the pursuit of tramping.Â
Alongside our qualified instructors, you will complete two different overnight trips:
- A practice trip (Thurs. and Fri., 28 & 29 September), and
- A qualifying trip (Thurs. and Fri., 5 & 6 October).
The first trip (Thurs. and Fri., 28 & 29 September) will happen in and around Long Bay as you learn all the basic skills for becoming a self sufficient adventurer such as navigation, group management, camping, survival and many more.
Our Second Haerenga trip (Thurs. and Fri., 5 & 6 October) will involve traveling out into the Waitakere Ranges, where participants will be putting their new skills to the test. The Waitakere's are some of the most important ecological areas to Auckland, so participants will also be engaging in various activities to learn more about why the Waitakere's are so important for us in the Auckland Region.
Looking forward to seeing you all there!
